Dr Mrs. Jyothi Prasad is presently working as Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, G B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar - 263 145, Uttarakhand State. She did her graduation in Civil Engineering from the University of Mysore, Karnataka State and Post graduate (Master of Engineering) in Hydrology from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IITR) and PhD in Civil Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NITW), Andhra Pradesh. She has got vast teaching, research and industrial experience of more than Thirty seven(37) years at different institutions /universities. Subjects taught include Fluid Mechanics, Applied Hydraulics, Open Channel Hydraulics, Hydrology, Irrigation & Water Resources Engineering to under graduate and post graduate engineering students in an university system.
She has more than Sixty five (65) numbers publications at National and International Journals / Conferences to her credit. She has guided One PhD, Sixteen (16) numbers M. Tech Students, 22 B. Tech Projects, 3 small students projects under TEQIP and one project of asset mapping by the NRSC.
She has worked on a project under Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) sponsored by Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD), Govt. of India on “Recharge Process of Springs and Its Management to mitigate anthropogenic and climate change impact for water Security A case study in part of Kumaun Lesser Himalaya, India” International collaboration from Western Sydney University (WSU) and The University of Melbourne (UOM) for a duration of 2 years with a grant amounting to INR. 75 lakhs as Indian Principal- Investigator.
She was also Co–investigator for the project approved under National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS), Govt. of India working on “Study of Arsenic and other Water Contaminants in Uttarakhand State” Collaboration with Kumuan University Nainital duration of projects 3 years with a grant of INR. 33,96,800.00.
She has completed an AICTE, research promotion scheme (RPS) on “Reservoir Management Using Neural Network” of duration 2 years with a grant amounting to Rs. 6 lakhs as Co- Investigator.
She has coordinated Three Global Initiative of Academic Networking (GIAN) Programmes on “Hydrologic Modelling and Climate Change” sponsored by MHRD, Govt of India, International expert Prof Vijay P Singh, Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, Texas A & M University, USA. Dec 05-16, 2016, “Water future for urban & Rural Landscapes” held during Feb 9-13, 2018 with International expert Prof. Basant Maheshwari Western Sydney University, Australia and another programme “Water Quality Regulations and Modelling Approaches” Anthropogenic changes” held during Sept 4-8, 2018 with Inter National Expert as Dr Ali Mahdavi Mazdeh, Water Engineering , Imam Khomeini International University Qazvin, IRAN.
She has coordinated 2 International webinars on topic “Entropy theory and its application in Hydrologic Engineering” by Prof Vijay P Singh, Texas A & M University, USA on May 28th 2020 and another on topic “Managing the India invisible resources the role of participatory ground water monitoring, and management at village level” by Prof. Basant Maheshwari, Western Sydney University, Australia and one National webinar on “Research paper Writing –Challenges” by Dr B K Panigrahy, Indian Institute of Technology, Bhilai.
She has organised twenty (20) training / workshop/webinars programmes for the faculty of engineering colleges, field engineers funded by MHRD, DST, AICTE-ISTE, TEQIP WORLD BANK project, NAHEP, Indian Academy of Sciences, ICAR etc. She has undergone forty(40) at national level. Seven (7), International and training /workshop programmes organised by UNESCO, DFID, SDC, DST, DOE, AICTE, ISTE, NAAC, ICH, NORAD, IGSH etc
She has attended International (Credited) Training / Workshop Programmes at University of Sterling, U.K, Kathmandu, NEPAL; Thimpu, (BHUTAN), Trondheim & Oslo (NORWAY); Bochum, (Germany), Saint Petersburg (Russia) sponsored with full funding by Ministry of Earth Sciences & IUKWC, NORAD / UNESCO. Presented papers at International Conferences at Muscat, Oman; Beijing, China; Dhaka, Bangladesh sponsored by UNESCO, TWOWS and IWFM.
She has also undergone UNESCO sponsored International German Summer School (IGSH) programme on Urban Hydro Geology at RUHR University, Bochum, Germany. She has also visited WSU at Sydney, Griffith, QUT and UQ universities at Brisbane in Australia, University of Life Sciences, King Mihai I of Timisoara, Romania (2026), Saint Petersburg University of Veterinary Medicine at Saint Petersburg, Moscow State University of Veterinary Medicine at Russia, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Hongkong etc
She also worked as a Reviewer of Journal of Indian Association of Hydrologists (IAH), published by Indian Association of Hydrologists. She has delivered 11expert lectures on various topics at different colleges of the university and delivered featured talk at international conference Sangali, Maharashtra.
She worked as the panel expert committee member of Public Service Commission (UKPSC), UPSC, AICTE, H N B Garhwal University, Building committee expert at Open University, Haldwani, member of Maharashtra-Goa section management committee for two years (1997-98) secretary cum treasurer of ISTE Chapter, MHSS COE, Mumbai for six years. Life member of professional bodies like TWOWS, ISTE, IAHS, ISRS. Presently she is also the secretary cum treasurer of ISTE Chapter.
