The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was formed by trifurcation of the Department of Electrical Engineering in 1984.
Mission
The Department has formulated a long term planning; process and action plan to achieve highest standards in teaching and research. It has identified the core issues to be addressed immediately and working strategy to strengthen the existing infrastructure, facilities and improving the standards.

New Infrastructure Developed
New Post Graduate Research Lab Developed during the year 2021. The Laboratory is mainly utilized for research lab purpose which is highly beneficial to research scholars & PG students. Remote Access facilities is also allowed for students in this lab.
Hardware Resources: Intel Xcon w2245 Workstation (02 Nos), HPZ2 (72VPPVA), Workstation (01Nos), DELL Precision 3630 Towner CTO band Workstation (01No), Benq furniture’s 1700 series Workstation (02Nos) & DELL (T66CK) Desktop Computer (15 Nos) with two Authentication Serves.
Software Resources: MATLAB & SIMULINK Software Cadence Software TCAD Software, CST studies switch Software ansys HFSS.

HUMAN CHESS AND ESCAPE ROOM: Total 4 teams ( 64 participants)participated in this contest having 16 members. Each named Team A,B,C and D. In the first round Team A qualified for finals and in second round Team C qualified for the finals. Team A won the final round of Human Chess and qualified to play for the next event

- Mrs. Rachna Arya, an alumni of College of Technology, G.B.Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, and present-day project leader at Microsoft had joined us with her husband, taking out valuable time from her busy schedule to guide the present generation with her experience.(21.05.2022)
- On May25th, the Branch Chapter of Electronics and Communication Engineering, ELECTRONIKA, organized an expert lecture on ‘INTRODUCTION TO ALGORITHMS AND COMPUTATIONS’. This informative session helped the students understand the fundamentals of algorithms and their importance for the future ahead. Students were open to ask their queries related to the topic and were able to discuss them with Dr. Shree Prakash Dwivedi our expect for this lecture.
- The keynote speaker, Mr. Sameer Saurabh, an alumni of College of Technology, G.B.Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, and present-day working as Project Manager, Data Science at Grail Insights, had joined in order to connect with and guide the budding engineers.(4.06.2022)

Other Activities of Departments
- On December 17th, 2022, the branch chapters of Electronika and Electroglint, affiliated with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering respectively, at the College of Technology, Pantnagar, organized a highly successful event called "Innovision - The Innovative Idea Contest." The contest was aimed at undergraduate students from Pantnagar University, welcoming participants from all streams and colleges, and it garnered significant attention from both students and professors
- Dr. Sanjay Mathur, Professor & Head organized a one-day workshop on industry academia interaction gap diagnosis . The workshop was jointly organized by IE(I), PLC and College of Technology, Pantnagar on 15/02/2020. The initiative for conducting this workshop was taken by Prof. Sanjay Mathur , Chairman, IEI Pantnagar Local Center. The workshop was attended by around 55 participants from industries representing Ashok Leyland, Mahindra, Minda Corp., Yazaki India, Brakesh India, Tata Auto Comp, Taco, JBM, Roquette India and academicians from institutes CoT Pantnagar, BTKIT Dwarahat, APJAKIT Tanakpur, Amrapali Institute, Haldwani and Graphic Era University Bhimtal, FET MJPRU Bareilly
- Dr. Sanjay Mathur, Professor & Head organized a carrier counseling webinar on 19.06.2020 for the UG and PG students of college of technology in association with People Labs, Noida . The session was entitled “Road Ahead: Paved with Opportunities.” The session was organized to apprise the students with a focused analysis of the emerging situation and provide personalized attention to their worries due to the uncertainty looming in the present pandemic crisis. Many faculty members also attended the session so that they can too, analyze the situation and help their students accordingly
- Dr. Abhishek Tomar and Dr. Mayur Agarwal as Coordinator organized a STC on Latest Trends in VLSI Design and hands on implementation using EDA Tools during Nov.04-09, 2019 at CoT, Pantnagar

- (d) The keynote speaker Shri K. Narayanan, Director, National Informatics Center,Uttarakhand, State Informatics Officer addressed the students and faculty on 25.11.2022. Briefing more on the techno-aspects, he enlightened technology keeps on changing with time, so one should try to acknowledge and accept it and move with it.
