About

Dr. K.N. Shukla Central Computing Facility (KNSCCF) is a life-line of the University that provides computing facilities and Internet services to the students, academicians, research scientists and staffs 24x7 in the campus. The unit was named as Dr. K.N. Shukla Central Computing Facility (KNSCCF), in the memory of Late Dr. K. N. Shukla, Former Dean, College of Technology, who had conceived the vision of computing and internet facility under a roof to the students of universities round-the-clock in the campus. The KNSCCF was constructed under the World Bank funded project Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) and was inaugurated on 5 October 2007, by the Governor of Uttarakhand, Sri. Sudarshan Agarwal. KNSCCF is built over 1082.29 sq mtr area.

Facilities

• The CCF has 150 (115 High end PC with 16Gb Ram, 250GB SSD, 1TB HDD) working desktop PCs at present in student Hall-1 & Hall-2 with proper partitioning and user space against the total seating capacity of 211.
• 08 All-in-one Dell Desktop are available for specific purpose.
• A high Performance Dell Blade server having 4 core, RAM, HDD Chasis is available for core server based applications.
• 100TB SAN (Storage Area Network) based storage is available.
• Surveillance CCTV Cameras and IP Based Cameras are placed at various location inside and outside the CCF to keep a sharp vigilance on the activities going in the CCF. It also alarms about any act of indiscipline occurring in CCF.
• A Biometric finger-print recognition system is placed at the entry gate of the KNSCCF which allows students to enter only after proper authentication.
• A web portal–based system has been developed for efficient Online CCF Information Management, streamlining the collection, organization, and maintenance of data on a centralized digital platform.
• KNSCCF has a well-equipped conference room designed to comfortably accommodate meetings and official gatherings, with ample seating and proper spacing for ease of movement. The room is furnished with modern amenities, including a high-quality projector, to support clear, effective, and productive presentations and discussions.
• KNSCCF is equipped with a 20 kVA DG set for uninterrupted power supply to the server room and a 125 kVA DG set to support laboratory computers and lighting facilities without disruption. Additionally, a 250 kVA DG set powers the central air conditioning system, ensuring smooth and reliable functioning of all essential services.
• KNSCCF is fully centrally air-conditioned, providing a comfortable and controlled working environment throughout the facility. To ensure stable and uninterrupted power, two 10 kVA UPS systems and two 40 kVA UPS systems are installed, offering reliable backup support for all critical equipment and operations.
• New UTM (Unified Threat Management) device - SOPHOS XGS 4500 Firewall has been installed in CCF for network security, bandwidth management and implementation of Rules, Policies, Data and users management policy in February 2026.

Campus Wide Networking (CWN)

1. Campus Wide Networking (CWN) optical fiber layout ranging from Main Gate (Nagla) to Patharchatta in the University having optical fiber length approximately 43.6 Km and UTP cable length approximately 93.9 Km covering a region of about 15 Kms.
2. The campus wide networking of KNS CCF was designed in 2006 as a Gigabit Network in Phase–I. Later Phase–II and Phase–III were also implemented to cover the entire campus.
3. CWN is implemented mainly on Star Topology with redundancy through Ring Network using one Core Switch, Access Switches (179 Nos.) and Distribution Switches (19 Nos.).
4. The CWN is spread across the campus through Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) and Wireless network facility is also provided to facilitate mobile computing across the campus.
5. 1 Gbps NKN Internet Link.

Events

• A visit was conducted at KNSCCF for the training of 12 participants under the ICAR-sponsored training programme on “Green-Collar Approach for Sustainable Plant Health” on 30 January 2025, organized by the Department of Plant Pathology.
• A campus placement drive was conducted for 18 students by M/s Carbon Circle Pvt. Ltd. on 10 June 2025.
• CABM fresh students utilized the CCF facility for registration on the AUAMS portal on 28 August 2025.
• The University Entrance Examination was conducted at KNSCCF on 08 July 2025 for 71 CABM students.
• SAFAL Assessment organized at KNSCCF for Campus School, Pantnagar — approx. 150 students between 10/11/2025 to 02/12/2025.
• Virtual Labs were organized at KNSCCF for the College of Technology, with around 115 students attending the event on 13 November 2025.
• A visit to KNSCCF was organized on 07 December 2025 under the CAFT programme by the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture, Pantnagar, for an ICAR-sponsored training programme.
• A visit to KNSCCF was conducted on 11 December 2025 under the Deeksharambh Programme, attended by approximately 110 students from the College of Agriculture.
• Procurement of SOPHOS Firewall XGS 4500 was completed, and related training was conducted on 10 February 2026.
• A visit was conducted at KNSCCF for the training of 25 participants under the ICAR-sponsored programme on “Emerging Plant Health Issues and their Management under Changing Climate Scenario” on 09 February 2026, organized by the Department of Plant Pathology.
• An IQ test was conducted at KNSCCF on 19 February 2026 as part of the selection process for M/S ITC Company. A total of 43 students appeared for the examination.
