ABOUT Dr. S. K. Kashyap is an accomplished teacher, researcher and academic administrator with experience of 32 illustrious years. He has been serving as the Dean of College of Agriculture of GBPUAT, Pantnagar since 26-2-2020. He has also served as Head of Department of Agricultural Communication from 20-7-2015 to 25-2-2020. He is also serving as the Chairman of University Ranking Monitoring Committee since 1-9-2019 during which, the University emerged as Nationally Rank 1 among SAUs in ICAR ranking, Rank 8 in NIRF ranking in Agriculture category (rank 3 among SAUs) and also received the honour of being mapped in World QS Ranking in Agriculture category continuously in 2022 and 2023. Dr. Kashyap, with broad vision, also led the World Bank funded ambitious mega-project – IDP-NAHEP – under which the University could raise into digital era through establishment of 65 digital classrooms, Virtual Lab, Faculty Development Centre, Language Lab and other world-class facilities. Through tremendous performance, the IDP-NAHEP, Pantnagar has been recognized as one of the best centres across the country by DDG (Education), ICAR and National Director NAHEP Dr R.C. Agrawal. Dr. S. K. Kashyap established the Pantnagar Museum in 2022, first-of-its-kind, documenting and lavishly showcasing the rare data, text, photographs, films and reminiscences of the 65 years of the University which is a marvellous story of genesis and impact of Green Revolution in the country. The Museum was inaugurated by the Governor Lt. Gen. Sri Gurmeet Singh ji and since, has been visited and applauded by distinct personalities including Vice-President Sri Jagdeep Dhankhar and DG ICAR Dr. Himanshu Pathak. Dr. Kashyap and his dedicated team did herculean task of consulting 35,000 pages of references for developing the Museum. As Dean of the College, he has meticulously led the faculty and students to globally emerge as one of the best faculty in terms of quality research publications which has significantly contributed in the World QS ranking status to Pantnagar. He insistingly recognises all best performing faculty and students of the College with FACULTY EXCELLENCE AWARD and STUDENT EXCELLENCE AWARD each year, bestowed upon ceremoniously on 1st January of the year. His contributions have been nationally acknowledged through prestigious awards and honours including Dr C Subramaniam Outstanding Teacher Award of ICAR.

Special attainments of Dr. S. K. Kashyap

Attainments of Dr. S.K. Kashyap as Dean, PI of projects, Chairman of Ranking Team and others has been immense due to his innovative and strategic leadership acumen. Dr. S.K. Kashyap has led a series of very ambitious projects with external funding as PI, including DST-TEC, NASF, Extra Mural Project, IDP-NAHEP, Farmers FIRST project and others. His proven work on integrating Community Radio with extension system of the locale through technology-intervened participatory methodologies has led to a pathway for strengthening extension process on wider scale, recognized nationally by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting through National Community Radio Award consecutively for 4 years.

Dr. Kashyap networked with hundreds of international and globally recognized institutions to pave ways for international trainings of more than 125 students and 55 faculty in last 5 years. He could bring more than 50 international stalwarts of foreign universities to address and nurture Pantnagar students in offline or online mode during his Dean’s tenure which made significant difference in the outlook and ambition of the students.

Even with his extensive academic engagements, Dr. Kashyap has always stretched to relentlessly mentor thousands of Undergraduate and Postgraduate students for last 25 years in Soft Skills, Employability Skills, Leadership Sills, Organisational Skills, National Character and so on through multiple platforms including Educational Technology Cell (since 2004), Vivekanand Swadhyay Mandal (since 1999) and Sanskritic Chetna Parishad. As accomplished orator and mentor, he has deliberated more than 1000 such sessions since 1997 in the University.
